Q: The car will not move in any gear

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus LX with 131000 miles on it it was driving perfectly fine no check engine light no noise no sign of nothing parked it and next day went out to drive it and it would not go in any gear what could be the problem and there is no resistance when I try to drive it I know the brakes are not holding it back and it moves through the gears perfectly fine and the PDL light indicator when you put it in the any of the gears shows what gear its in and I can see that the linkage on the top of the transmission is Shifting and I can also you know manually move it by hand or whatever I know that linkage is not broken it just will not move in any gear please help me out I have no what this could be
