Shift Interlock Solenoid Replacement $118.69 - $1255.66 Get a Quote

Yes, it is possible the loose shifter is a consequence of the ignition switch breaking as there is an interlock between the two. The recall relates to the ignition switch not retaining the key in the run position, thus potentially and unexpectedly depowering the air bag system during a crash. Whether replacing the switch alone, under the recall, will resolve the lock issue depends on whether there is additional damage. If you desire, this can be inspected, and repaired as needed, in a shift interlock diagnostic. if you request that diagnostic, the responding certified mechanic will get the problem diagnosed and repaired for you promptly.
