Q: Runs but keep cutting off 1995 Chevy C1500

asked by on

Runs but keep cutting off idle high at times many new parts
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello - this is likely an air/fuel supply issue. Check for any problem codes, even if the Check Engine is not illuminated. (Yes, even though your truck is not OBD II compliant, there are built-in diagnostics.) These can be invaluable in diagnosing problems like this. A malfunctioning throttle body, air leak in the intake, idle air control valve incorrect fuel pressure or clogged/leaky injectors can all cause stalling. I would recommend an inspection of the air/fuel supply system by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.
