Q: Ratling noise when starting

asked by on

when starting you hearing a rackling noise before the engine starts started this week COULD IT BE SOMTHING with the starter. what can u suggest. awaiting you response tks.
My car has an automatic transmission.

If you are getting a noise from the engine or starter when cranking the motor to start then you should have the starter and flywheel checked to see if it is the cause of the noise. Another possible cause of the noise could be the camshaft advancing mechanism not in the correct position. You would have a check engine light on in this case though. Have a mechanic like one from YourMechanic inspect and listen to noise to see it a possible cause can be identified before starter is removed.
