Hey there - I have a 2011 Nissan Altima SR and while intending to start car with the mechanical key - I jammed it into the port that is intended for the fob. Now it is stuck. I know - dont laugh. Do you have any recommendations? Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fob's battery? I put a new battery in so it is working. I just have the mechanical key jammed in the port. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Altima SR yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes, myself. Ive tried pulling it out with a pair of pliers.

Hi! Faith Hope I can help sorry to hear about your key stuck in the port I have seen this a few times most of the time you can get it with a pair of needle nose pliers if real bad and will not come out you might need to get a new box or try and take it apart .

If I try yanking it, I am afraid I will damage the port.

You don't really have much choice they can be hard to remove if bound up if you damage it you will need to replace it anyway if will not come out

OK - thanks. One more question, I put a new battery in the key fob and it will not snap shut completely. I have to pinch the two sides together to get it to work.

you put the front in first then snap together at the rear

That is what I have been doing. Not sure what the problem is.
