Q: Q: My car won't turn over

asked by on

When I turn the switch it tries to start out it quits and delays and and sounds like it's trying to turn over again and after that it just makes a clicking sound

My car has 232868 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

A starter, like any other mechanical and electrical part, is subject to failing sometimes for no apparent reason. However, sometimes this is misdiagnosed as well and often times mistaken for something much more simple like a fuse or starter relay. The starter relay is a small unit near the starter that directs power to the starter from the battery. When this fails, it may cause a clicking sound and will not allow the starter to engage the flywheel when you turn the key. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your home to diagnose your starting issue to determine the solution to get you back on the road.

Q: Have a jeep grand cherokee it cranks but has no spark started a few times then nothing what sensor went bad

There could be a bad cam sensor, crank sensor, coil, or even a wiring issue. It would be best to test the components individually to determine which is causing the problem. My recommendation would be to connect a diagnostic scanner...

Q: I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey with engine light flashing and my TCS light is on. I had the codes ran and it said misfired on Cylinde

Although you have a number of issues, the misfiring should be diagnosed and resolved first as misfiring can cause damage to the catalytic converter. Among the causes of cylinder misfiring are faulty spark plugs, low compression, damage or excessive wear...
