ok has the vehicle been driven any distance at all while it was overheating?

well I pull over and let it cool down
Automotive Expert
ok, you need to have a block test done to see if combustion gases are mixing with the coolant. you probably have a blown head gasket

its not a faulty water pump or. clogged heater core
Automotive Expert
the water pump is a possibility, but you need to make sure the head gasket int blown before doing anything else. we arent going to be replacing parts until I know if the engine passes or fails a block test

if it was that the engine block is faulty that wouldnt come up on a obd 2 reader??cause the obd used to have a code for 6 cylinder misfire but then went away and no codes come up now
Automotive Expert
no. a block test is done with a special tester. https://www.amazon.com/Block-Tester-BT-500-Combustion-Leak/dp/B06VVBSFTF/ref=asc\_df\_B06VVBSFTF/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312177448019&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*06&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9005916&hvtargid=pla-570352767565&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=61495038909&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312177448019&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*06&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9005916&hvtargid=pla-570352767565

okay so i buy this and test it
Automotive Expert
yes,or you can have a shop do it.

no I dont have. the money too pay a shopif its blown do I just add head gasket sealer ???
Automotive Expert
no. never add head gasket sealer. it will ruin other parts of the cooling system and theres only a 50/50 chance of it working.

ok
Automotive Expert
Ill leave this open so you can let me know if you need anything else.

hey
Automotive Expert
**What's up**

hey so im about to do the combustion test
Automotive Expert
ok

okayit failed
Automotive Expert
head gasket is bad then

is that a big fix?is that why im overheating or is that a diffrent issue
Automotive Expert
that is exactly why you are overheating and its a huge job

am I better off junking thus carI mean I spent 1400 and only had it 6 months. is it worth fixingshould I just try head gasket sealer and pray and if it dont work just junk it
Automotive Expert
you can buy some blue devil head gasket sealer, which I never recommend, but the repair will be more than what the car is worth.

Blue devil will help me get a few more milles out of this car?
Automotive Expert
you got a 50/50 shot if you follow the instruction to the T

heywould I be able. to go too get new head gasket at pick a part
Automotive Expert
no sir. they have to be brand new. this is a 13 hour job also
Automotive Expert
you have to remove the cylinder heads.

before the obd reader said cylinder 6 misfire can that be the problem
Automotive Expert
if the block test failed, you have a blown head gasket

do cylinder misfires make. a blown head gasket happen

just wondering so i understand what I did wronga long time a go the obd reader said egr was bad. is a blown gasket come from bad egr ?
Automotive Expert
no. overheating causes the head gaskets to blow. and then the barrier between the coolant and engine oil is compromised. the heads themselves may have even warped. the gaskets need to be replaced.

ohhh okay okay ..
Automotive Expert
take car. let me know if you need anything else.
