2012 Mercedes [C250](/topics-c250/) .. the key will not start the car but it will lock and unlock. We get a message in the cluster that reads remove key Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the [battery](/topics-battery-mercedes/), particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded? Yes, and everything is fine Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your C250 yourself? What have you tried so far? Unhooked both batteries, tried both key fobs, tried to move the steering wheel Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Also we have tried to start using the push button and popping that out and using the actual ignition

Hey there, my name is Jake. Sorry to see your having issues, but thanks for reaching out for assistance does the steering wheel unlock? do the accessories work like radio or anything?
Automotive Expert
if the steering wheel doesn't unlock and you have no accessories or anything then it sounds like a steering lock failure or an EIS failure. If the steering unlocks, could still be EIS failure especially if no accessories work. let me know, thanks

The lights and accessories come on and the key fob will unlock and lock the car but I can't get it to start
Automotive Expert
can you tell me if the steering lock releases (I'd assume so if accessories work) and what happens when the key is turned to start?

Unfortunately the information provided is limited. Normally I would investigate and see if your Ford shakes at certain speeds. If so, then shaking now and then could be the result of unbalanced tires. Next I would investigate if the shaking...
Clock spring compatibility
I do believe that the clock spring will still work considering that the steering wheel is the same and the steering wheel travel is the same. The best way to be certain is to compare the part numbers from the...
Where would a GPS be place on my car

Electronic throttle control not working
This may be a sign of a failing throttle position sensor. This sensor is usually located on the butterfly spindle or shaft so that it can directly monitor the position of the throttle. It relays the position of the throttle...
Engine light On and car jerks from 2000-3000rpm
Continual failure of the camshaft sensor may suggest that you have some bad wiring leading to the plug where the cam sensor is plugged in. The internal circuitry and the wires that connect the sensor to power and to the...
I changed the brake pads recently, there is now a knocking sound when applying the brakes
You are hearing the brake pads moving up and back in the caliper bracket. This is caused by the front rotors being warped, and it is also possible that the pads' anti-rattle clips were not installed correctly. The rotors should...
Ck. eng. lt. on Had it checked. replaced fuel filler cap. worked ok for a while. now lt. back on
Hi there. Typically when a check engine light is illuminated, and a repair is made, the code needs to be cleared by a professional mechanic. This could be the reason why the light periodically comes on. However, it's also possible...
I have an 4.7 HO engine for my jeep. Cylinder 5 misfire and low pressure on passenger side. Replaced spark plugs and coils.
Hi there. To be completely honest, anytime a head gasket service has been completed, I typically throw "common causes of an engine cylinder misfire" out the window. In most cases, a head gasket gasket fails due to an overheating problem....
