You can replace just the module, but it will need to programmed to the vehicle using MAZDA software.

How do I go about doing that

Buying the equipment and software would not be cost effective to have the module programmed. I'll provide the instructions from the manual momentarily.

So the manual does not provide replacement instructions for the module. It does however provide the location. See image attached.

Any suggestions on how to get it programmed

You can call around to you're local shops to see if an independent one can do it. A FORD or MAZDA dealer should be able to do it as well. You may also be able to order it pre-programmed.
