Q: Low oil pressure light after 10 mins of driving.

Hello Sir,

Low oil pressure warning comes on the dash after 10 mins of driving. I could see pressure drop on my dash from 40 psi when i cold start and steadily fall as the engine gets hot to below 5 psi on idle. I also feel jolts in the engine on idle and oil pressure fluctuate.

I see a degraded driving performance as the pressure lowers and a low ticking noise in the engine block.

I had replaced engine mounts and oil pressure sensor 2 years back when i bought the car. Not sure if they have gone bad again. I have oil pan gasket leak, i used to top a quart of oil every 6 months.

Could you please help me in finding out what might have gone wrong and what it would take to fix it.

My car has 95000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
