Q: Issues going into reverse 2002 Ford Escape

asked by on

All of a sudden my car wont go into reverse and makes a loud noise when i try to go backwards went to the bank came back try to straighten out my parking put in reverse it felt like it was stuck making a loud noise when trying to back up please i need my car

My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there - most likely your problem is internal to the transmission itself. Check the fluid level of the transmission first - low fluid level can cause the problem you describe. If fluid level is adequate, the problem is likely in the reverse clutch components, and will require internal transmission repair. I would recommend a transmission inspection by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.
