It sounds like you may have a failing voltage regulator. When the voltage regulator is not working properly, this may result in the alternator allowing too much power to be delivered to the battery resulting in damaging wires and prematurely sometimes destroying the battery. In other cases it may result in the alternator not supplying enough power to the battery, resulting in undercharging the battery or not charging it at all. In some cases when a battery is too weak or damaged, it may no longer hold a charge for any length of time, in which case the alternator may be doing its job, but the battery is just simply too weak to hold a charge. In either case, I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your vehicle’s charging system.

Recommended oil to use on a turbo engine vs. a non-turbo one
Yes it really does. Because turbos spin hundreds of thousands of revolutions and they need really good lubrication. They need a little heavier oil (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/why-are-5w-30-and-5w-20-oils-so-common). They need the 30 vs. the 20 and you don't want to mess with the...

Brake master cylinder leaking, clutch jammed up. Is quote for new clutch that doesn't mention brake master reasonable? 1998 Ford Escort
Hi there - I think the fact that the brake and clutch hydraulic system share the reservoir is confusing how to repair 2 separate issues. A battery saver active message came on this morning on my 2009 Chevy UPlander. Do I need to have the battery checked?
A logical first step is to have the battery load tested (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-is-dead-inspection) and, at the same time, measure the output of the charging system to determine if the charging system is functioning. If the battery fails the load test (OR...
