Hey! I purchased a Hyundai [Sonata](/topics-sonata/) SE 2016, and it came up on dashboard that Service in 16 days. What is that mean and what should I do? Mechanic's Assistant: How long has this been going on? I purchased the car yesterday and it was fine, it came up this morning. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sonata yourself? What have you tried so far? I didn’t tried anything because I don’t know what I have to do

Hi! My name is Olguta.

Hi Olguta. Nice to see you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. Please give me one moment to type out some information for you. Sit tight one minute... I'll be right back! Thanks for holding, Olguta. The service in 'x' days is the maintenance reminder. It is set to alert you when it is time to replace the engine oil and filter. When the engine oil and filter are replaced, the maintenance monitoring system will need to be manually reset by the service tech (the reset procedure is also included in your owner's manual in case the tech forgets to reset the system), to ensure that the monitoring system and the 'actual' oil change intervals are in sync.

Ok, I thought I need the oil change, but when I checked the papers it says that the oil was changed in November and the car was at the dealership since that.Well I guess I just need to change the oil and see how it's going to work.

More than likely here, the oil was replaced, however, the monitoring system was not manually reset. It happens all the time. Just make sure they manually reset the system on the next oil change.

Sure, thank you for your help.

You're welcome, Olguta! Glad I could be of some help today! I hope everything works out well for you! Have a great weekend! Thank you for choosing Just Answer for your questions!

Transmission is slipping
I would first confirm that your transmission fluid is full and not leaking. I would recommend having an expert mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, perform a transmission fluid service (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) if your fluid is low. However, if the fluid...
Do I need to use synthetic oil in my car?
You can use a regular or synthetic oil (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-type-of-oil-should-i-use) as long as your vehicle does not specify it. You can look on your oil cap and it will detail the type of oil and weight to use. Your car does...
