Q: Horn no longer working.

asked by on January 07, 2016

The horn on my car is no longer working.

Hi there. There could be several reason why your horn could have stopped working. Did it happen after you washed your car or after it rained? Water sometimes gets in the horn itself and shorts it out. Do you have any controls on your steering wheel and if so are they working properly? If they are not a bad air bag clock spring could be the cause. Identifying a blown fuse is easy. Finding the cause of the blown fuse is the key to a successful repair. Electrical issues like these usually require the assistance of a trained technician with access to wiring diagrams, tools like voltmeters, and test lights that are safe for airbag/computer circuit testing. So seeking help from a technician is best in your case.

I was driving my 2013 Nissan Altima 5 miles or less. When I threw it in Park I heard a noise.

Car wouldn't go over 50 mph I went over and next thing you know I hear loud knocking from the engine
The knocking is suggestive of a mechanical failure of some sort. I would first measure cylinder compression to get a basic idea of the condition of the engine. If it doesn't test well (too low and/or too much variance) you...
