Q: Engine stalls when putting car into gear.

asked by on

My car will start and run just fine but then when I put it drive or reverse it will cut off
My car has an automatic transmission.

There could be an issue with the transmission torque converter or the clutches forward and reverse are coming on at the same time inside the transmission causing the engine to stall out when shifting into gear. I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you diagnose your transmission.
