It sounds like your transmission has a problem. Either with the torque converter or the transmission failed internally with the gearing or clutches. You'll have to check the line pressure on the transmission if the [engine](/topics-engine-gmc/) will stay running. If the transmission seized or the converter is seized then it won't start and you'll just have to remove the transmission. I would have the rear end inspected very carefully if you have a bunch of metal shavings in it also.
