Q: Gas cap code

asked by on

I have check engine light after I fill up on gas and I replaced the cap after the first time filling after the new cap the code came on again

My car has 70000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

The codes you are getting is not a gas cap code but a leak in the gas tank evaporative emission system that includes a possible leak in the gas cap. You will need to have the system leak checked with a smoke machine and perform pinpoint tests for the codes you have received. You may have a purge valve or a vent valve leaking.
