Q: Q: Exhaust System

asked by on

Hey, i was wondering what exhaust should i upgrade to since i have a bmw 2014 640i Convertible (F12), as there are so many options- also should it be a exhaust system or just a muffler ?

Hello, thank you for writing in. The choice you make when deciding on an exhaust system upgrade are going to completely depend on what you are looking to achieve with it. You are correct that there are a choices in how far up the pipe you go, the material they are made out of, what country makes them, what color you want, and what sound you want. Consider all of these factors, and decide what works best for you. The point of the exhaust system is for the vehicle to breath, so it is generally thought that the bigger the better (to an extent). Pay attention to local laws in your area as well. The muffler on the end is mostly decorative and for sound. So you can decide if you like the look of one pipe, two pipes, or four.
