Does not always work the ETC system, but do the following and let me know results -
Within 5 seconds, turn key in ignition on-off-on-off-on, leaving it in the on position. (on position is position just before cranking). Now look at the odometer and see if any fault codes scroll across. Will be Pxxxx codes such as P2022

Ok, check to be sure the battery cables are tight, although I suspect they are.
Symptoms point to a problem in the electronic throttle control system and unfortunately will require a shop level scan tool to diagnose
