Yes i have reset it, it comes right back Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? Dodge Dakota 1996 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Dakota yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes I haven't tried anything yet

Hello there and thank you for contacting JustAnswer, sorry to hear about your truck, I’ll do my best to help you solve this issue, it sounds like Torque Converter Problems, does it overheat?

No
Automotive Expert
Some potential causes of the P0740 code may include:A faulty torque converter [clutch](/topics-clutch-dodge/) solenoid A damaged torque converter or clutch Incorrect transmission fluid level Skipping over transmission maintenance A restriction within the transmission Internal transmission damage A faulty powertrain control module or transmission module

Where is the torque converter cluch solenoid located
Automotive Expert
Positioned between the rear of the engine and the front of the transmission is the torque converter

I know where the torque converter is I need to know where the torque converter cluch solenoid is located
Automotive Expert
The torque converter is your solenoid.

Ok didn't know they were the same thing why did the potential causes list a faulty solenoid and a damaged torque converter if they are the same thing
Automotive Expert
Sorry about that. My mistake.

Usually its the torq converter and the solenoid block

Is the torque converter cluch solenoid in the pan where you can get to it easily
Automotive Expert
usually the 740 is the torq converter itself on a Dakota... 1. Check the fluid condition. If dirty or discolored, or if there is clutch material in the pan, the torque converter has likely failed. Rebuild or replace the transmission as the debris will be in the whole transmission, be sure to flush or replace the cooler as well. 2. Perform the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) test using a compatible scan tool. The engine should stall when running this test. If it does not, then it is a likely mechanical problem in the transmission.

What about the p1757
Automotive Expert
first step in the test chart is to repair any other trans code first Check for the presence of other A/T related trouble codes Governor pressure sensor reference circuit is open or shorted Governor pressure sensor is damaged or has failed Transmission valve body is leaking, damaged or has failed PCM has failed

Engine making whining noise
Hi there. The most common cause of this on your engine is the water pump. It can be a number of other things also. I typically remove the belt and run the engine to verify that the noise goes away....
My car is completely dead
If jump starting the car works, I would suspect the alternator is no longer charging and probably needs replacement. A mechanic should fully charge your battery before testing it and if the battery passes, get the alternator tested. I wouldn't...

It's cranking but the engine won't turn over and start
Hello there, many common faults will cause your 2002 Nissan Maxima to crank but not start. The most likely fault is the battery (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-replacement), it must be load tested and ruled out before diagnosis can proceed. Other possible faults are...
