Hello, I have a 2013 Dodge Durango and I have an issue with it shutting off when I go from park to reverse. It only seems to happen in the cold mornings. Once the car has been running or has been driven, I won't have any issues. When it does happen, I can start it right back up and it runs fine. Mechanic's Assistant: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged? Yes and Yes Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Durango yourself? What have you tried so far? I haven't tried anything, I am trying to find a route to go.

Really only 2 things stick out here that would cause this. Either the idle is low (throttle body dirty) or the torque converter is sticking.

Since it’s so intermittent I’d suspect a throttle issue before I would something more serious like the TCC

Thank you for taking on my issue. What about idle control valve? I have seen that mentioned in different places as well.

I have a bad transmission and vehicle warranty is expired. I can't afford to buy a new or rebuilt transmission.
