Q: Do I repair my car or sell it?

asked by on August 07, 2017

My car was a hand me down. In the last 5 years I've had to put in 2 separate $2000+ repairs. Now my car won't start and I was told it was the fuel pump ($1400). They replaced it and now it shorted out the fuel pump so they say the issue is the SAM module, another $1000. The place has good reviews and seem reliable(been there before). My question is: we were thinking of selling the car anyway. Do I need to fix the car before I try to sell? Or try to tow it to a car buying dealer nearby and take what I can get? My worry is that if I don't fix it, that they will low-ball me. Thanks.

My car has 55000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi Jim.
