I have had 5 codes on my FIXD code reader.I bought it cause I was having stalling issues.I had 5 codes p015A,014,013,011 and 010.All but 1 cleared after I took to a mechanic and he replaced the camshaft sensors so he claims.Said I needed to drive it a few days to reset the computer.I been driving since last Friday and it stalls in reverse and I have drove several miles cleared the codes and it runs a while but the code comes back 011.Oh and I changed my oil cause the FIXD scanner kept telling me to I had 28% oil life Mechanic's Assistant: Do you have a scan tool to read the codes? Yes FIXD Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? 2015 Chevy EQUINOX 2.4 L Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Equinox yourself? What have you tried so far? Changed the oil at a vavoline place and changed camshaft sensors a mechanic did it. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No I was wondering if I need to change cabin filter and air filter?I bought this from a Chevy dealer Oct 2019

Hello and welcome to just answer, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* master tech of over 40 years in the trade. It is my pleasure to assist you with your vehicles problems. As I am not there to hear or see the vehicle I will need to ask questions to get a picture of what is happening so I can better help you, I also do not know your skill levels so do not be offended if they seem to basic. During this conversation you will be given an automated offer for a phone call. You may accept or decline that offer. Now what code or codes do you still have? Did this happen all at once or gradually?

I have a 011 code and it just started cutting off alot and I ordered a FIXD scanner to fix myself but I was afraid it was my o2 sensor and I can get on the ground but have a bad foot and was sure I couldn't get up

File attached (L4GP3V7)

All codes are gone but p011I don't want to call.I will make this mechanic replace what I paid for 300.00.I just was wondering if he replaced the correct things and I had the oil changed.I also ran for a week and still have a code.He needs to fix the problem I paid for just thought maybe you would know why I still have a code it's not stalling as bad but it is when put in reverse

One moment please.

Thanks!

Ok , as I read correctly your mechanic said he replaced the cam sensor?

that's what he said was wrong
Automotive Expert
It's not the censor that's at fault but the actuator or solenoid itself. The sensor is just reporting to the ECU what's happening. We can confirm this by hooking up a shop scanner and doing an active test on that **VVT** actuator to see if it works properly.

I live in Florida
Automotive Expert
Do you understand what I am telling you?

Sirget someone to hook a shop scanner up and test the vet actuatorIs that a gear or no?
Automotive Expert
I don't mean to be rude but I believe your mechanic is missing something in his diagnoses as if he did an active test on that VVT actuator it would show the fault. Doing that test it bypasses the ECU and you command the VVT to operate and if it does not then you know exactly what the issue is. The VVT is a hub at the end of the camshafts that advance or retard it's timing. This can and wil make your engine either loose power or stall out.

Ok maybe he didn't do that.He told me last Friday to drive a little and I have and still have a code and a stallOk can you program that itself or do you need a new hub?Oh and it does jerk pulling off at a complete stop.
Automotive Expert
Here is a drive cycle to reset all your senors after codes reset and work performed .just telling someone to drive for a while is lame . The drive cycle should have been performed after his work or done through a scanner to confirm it was repaired before he gave it back to you.
Automotive Expert
It may not be the hub but the actuator and this can be easily replaced as it is an external part that controls the hubs. Sorry hit wrong tab.

Ok so would you go back to this mechanic and make him do it right or go somewhere else? I am mechanically inclined just climbing on the ground is hard to get back upI just know when I owned my caviler your site took me right to the problem with a engine light and I fixed myself.I just remembered this after quite a few years.
Automotive Expert
I would certainly go and ask this mechanic why you should be paying for the previous work and parts he did that didn't fix the issue, it sounds like he is more of a parts re-placer and cross your fingers type of mechanic than a thorough diagnostics one. Your vehicle is just a 4 cyl so replacing that would be a simple task.

I think you are correct.I moved to Florida from Virginia and now have to find a good mechanic like I had there.
Automotive Expert
I would start by asking your neighbors or friends that live close by get some recommendations. Is there anything else I can do for you?

He has been in the business since the 70s he said but maybe he hasn't been educated on the newer vehicles. No but thanks so much for your help!

Thanks so much!

Called my mechanic today and the secretary said he replaced the electronic throttle body. far from camshaft sensors. Thanks so much for your help and I will not be taking back to him.
Automotive Expert
AHUM,another parts re-placer. I would do that too.

Thanks so much for your help and knowledge
