I have 2 Chevy silverado trucks. One is a 2011 automatic v8 4x4. The other is a 2012 automatic v6 4x4. I want to put the v6 [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) in my v8 truck. I know I must change the wiring harness and computer components. I need to know if I will have to change the transmissions. Will the v6 engine bolt up to the v8 transmission or will I need to switch them out?

I am sorry to hear you are having troubles with your vehicle. While I am looking at your question, can you tell me who I have the pleasure of assisting today? You will need to change the transmission as well. The V6 has a 4 speed transmission where as the V8 has the 6 speed transmission. Plus the modules and controls are different between the 2, so trying to make it work could be harder that you think without changing everything.
