I'm not sure. It is fuel injection but I don't know the brand?

ok, are there individual fuel injectors or is there a large square connector on top of the engine?

I believe it's one large connector. I don't know much about cars. I took the van to a mechanic and they said it had to do with the spark plugs, but I'm just trying to find all possible reasons for the misfire

I'm not currently looking at the engine so I couldn't tell you, I would have to get back to you on that. Do you have any theories as to why the engine could be misfiring? I am replacing the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I am also replacing the [knock sensor](/topics-knock-sensor-chevy/) because the mechanic I took it to said that was malfunctioning. I think the idle is also too low because the van stalls when slowing down and trying to accelerate again sometimes

well. I would replace the [ignition coil](/topics-ignition-coil-chevy/) for one thing. and then I would do a compression test, if that doesnt help

Okay. And I also can't start the van without having my foot on the gas. Do you think that's a problem with the idle too?

no. I think thats a problem with either compression or fuel pressure

have you tried removing the idle air control valve and cleaning it out?

Where is that located on the engine? Also, separate question, do you know where the knock sensor is located?

to do a compression test you need a compression gauge and remove the spark plugs. then screw the gauge into each spark plug hole. then remove the fuel pump relay. then crank the engine 5 revolutions with the gas pedal to the floor and see what the gauge reads. do that for all 8 spark plugs

Ok I appreciate that. How would I adjust the idle to make it higher? When I got the van it was very high and running fine dispite it, now with it being too low I'm worried it's going to stall everytime I come to a stop

theres no adjustment. its controlled by the computer. that is why you need to clean out the IAC valve
