Hi my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I am going to try and help you with your issue. Need to check power at the 4x4 stich when you select 4 hi to see if power is there if not then the switch is bad, if you have power there then you need to check at the transfer care if no power there then you have a broken wire. you will just have to trace the wire and find were the loos of power is or if the transfer case itself is bad. Hope this information helps.

Switch is goodWhy does it go in low not hi
Automotive Expert
if its not getting power at the transfer case in that setting or the internal part of the transfer case in the high setting is bad.

You can here it
Automotive Expert
The actuator just locks it in but the switch and trnafer case controls the high and low and if yours has a motor for the low and high on the transfer case the it could be bad aas well.

Where is that moter on the transmission
Automotive Expert
Should be on the back or side of the transfer case, it sounds like the transfer case is not going into the high range. that is if it is electronic controlled 4x4.

electric controlI tried to take that motor off today but the drive shaft yoke won't let it come out am I doing something wrong
Automotive Expert
Give me just a few im not certain how that one comes out but i am checking.

OkayHow do you test it to see if it's working
Automotive Expert
right up above the drive shaft going to the front differential they are some vacuum lines need to se if you are loosing vacuum that can cause it not to switch and be the reason why it works in low not high.

I will check that in the morning does it show how that comes out
Automotive Expert
No i looked in shop key which is snap on based and I haven't seen anything yet.

Hmmmmm
Automotive Expert
I will try to find out more tomorrow
