I have a 2011 Chevy Equinox all-wheel drive 6 speed transmission automatic and when I come from a stop it goes up into the 4,000 RPMs is that normal Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the Chevrolet? Is it the original transmission? It has 140761 miles and it is the original transmission, that I know of Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Equinox yourself? What have you tried so far? I haven't tried anything but I do have Powertrain warranty through the dealer I bought the car back in October of 2020 Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Nope just about the RPMs I want to know if that's normal and is it covered through the powertrain warranty cuz I will be taking it back

No this is not normal. It should be around 700 - 1100 RPM when coming to a stop. There is most likely a problem with the throttle body but of course it would need to be tested to verify that is the problem. This should be covered on your powertrain warranty depending on what is found to be wrong. It could also be a vacuum leak, faulty sensor, etc. My goal is to give you the best service possible and to help you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know. If I’m not online at the time, I will respond ASAP when I get back.

Would it be cover under the powertrain warranty that I have...

It should be but it depends on what is actually wrong. They would have to do a diagnostic on it. If it is the throttle body then it should be covered.

Thank you! It shifts fine. Just when I go from a complete stop, press my foot on the pedal to go, it revs to about 2000 RPMs, the next shift it's 3000 and if I put my foot down hard on the pedal it goes up past 4000 rpms and then its fine,

You're very welcome. This vehicle does learn your driving habits so it can change shifts from time to time. If you accelerate hard it will have higher RPM's before it shifts.

Ok thanks! Maybe because I had a Mazda tribute before this car and its different feeling driving AWD from front wheel
