Hello. I have a 2006 chevy impala ltz with 4wheel abs. I just replaced the abs control module cause the old one has failed and I bleed the [brakes](/topics-brakes/) and did an abs bleed and my brake pedal still goes to the floor before the car will stop. I also replaced the master cylinder. What could cause this issue Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tried cleaning and oiling the brake pedal's pivot under the dash? The brake pedal is pushing and returning it's just going straight to the floor before I get any brake pressure Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Impala yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes I am. I have done pads rotors master cylinder abs control module and bleed the brake and abs system multiple times Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Nope that is all

did you bleed it with the scan tool?

I did
Automotive Expert
if you line lock the hoses do you get a peddle? did you attempt a gravity bleed at all 4 corners?

I did not gravity bleed it I did the traditional bleed someone holding the brake while I open the bleeder screw
Automotive Expert
its either air bound or has a leak or the new master is failed i would attempt a gravity bleed all 4 corners till u get a fast solid drip

Ok. May I ask what is line locking the hoses
Automotive Expert
locking pliers that crimpo off each hose https://www.autozone.com/wrenches-pliers-and-cutters/hose-clamp-pliers/oemtools-hose-pinching-pliers-set-3-piece/13529\_0\_0?spps.s=4770&cmpid=LIA:US:EN:AD:NL(###) ###-####GEN:\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIh-S9xPKY7QIVGUWGCh35GAn6EAQYBSABEgJnp\_D\_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

The part I'm confused with is when the car isnt running I have full brake pressure and then when i start it it loses pressure and goes to the floor
Automotive Expert
have you driven it around the block GM brake pedals feel like garbage sitting still or on a lift

I did. Sadly nothing happened. Does the ecm have to be reprogrammed for a new abs module?
Automotive Expert
the ebcm gets programmed yes

Is that something that has to be done after installing the abs module
