Q: Check engine light

asked by on

general estimate on replacing a check engine light

Hello....If you request a check engine light diagnostic the cost is $70 to $80, the variance depending on your city and state. Once the diagnostic is performed, the cost to repair the identified fault(s) will depend on exactly which components have failed. The complexity of problems can vary from a need to replace spark plugs and/or ignition system coils, to malfunctioning variable valve timing systems, idle air control valves, EVAP system malfunctions and on and on. The cost to repair just depends on exactly what the downloaded diagnostic trouble codes point toward and, most importantly, what the actual diagnostic (testing of individual suspect components), based on those codes, reveals. If you have a follow up question, please let us know.
