A Buyer’s Guide to the 2012 Infiniti M

Infiniti M 2012

The 2012 Infiniti M combines luxury, performance and value into a stylish sedan. With numerous standard luxury features and drive-enhancing technology, this is one car that is sure to impress any driver in a number of ways.

Key Features

With 4 Wheel Active Steer, Drive Mode Selector and available Bose Studio sound system, the 2012 Infiniti M provides something for everyone. The V6 engine offers plenty of power for an enjoyable ride, while the luxurious interior provides the perfect level of comfort.

Changes for 2012

The most significant change for the 2012 Infiniti M is the changes in the chassis. Designed to be stiffer, the sedan now has improved body control and corner tracking for a smoother ride.

What We Like

The combination of a powerful engine, an array of technology-based features and serious comfort create a sedan that is a joy to drive. Throw in Infiniti’s reputation for providing reliable vehicles, and you have a win all the way around.

What Concerns Us

While the 2012 Infiniti M does tick a lot of boxes, it falls a bit short when it comes to trunk size. While the front passengers will certainly ride in comfort, the shorter cushions in the backseat are a bit less supportive. The fuel economy, though acceptable for the class, is somewhat less than some of the other comparable models available in the class.

Available Models

The 2012 Infiniti M is available with one of three engine options:

3.7-Liter V6

  • 330 horsepower @ 7,000 rpm
  • 270 lb-ft of torque @ 5,200 rpm
  • EPA city/highway fuel economy: 18/26 mpg (RWD), 17/24 mpg (AWD)

5.6-Liter V8

  • 420 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm
  • 417 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 rpm
  • EPA city/highway fuel economy: 16/25 mpg (RWD), 16/23 mpg (AWD)

Major Recalls

There have been two major recalls issued for the 2012 Infiniti M. The first is for a fuel pressure sensor that may not have been tightened properly. This could result in a fuel leak due to vibration and heat.

The second recall is for a connector bolt for the engine oil cooler that was not manufactured to the appropriate strength. This could result in an oil leak and a drop in oil pressure that could lead to the engine seizing.

Common Issues

The only complaint available for this vehicle is due to one that was delivered with two wheels/tires that were defective upon receipt.
