Q: Car won't start

asked by on July 11, 2017

I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima.. it won't start but yesterday it was running completely fine. It's not the alternator because while it was running I unhooked the battery cable and it still continued to run. I replaced 3 out of 6 of the spark plugs but couldn't do the other 3 myself ..could that be a problem?. It makes several rapid clicks when I try to start it. I just got a new battery but also some of my wires are exposed. I heard it could be the fuel pump or a few more things I need help. What could be the problem?

My car has 300000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Realize that green antifreeze is the old style antifreeze. That was an old type of antifreeze where the glycol lasts maybe three years max. So you've got to change the coolant maybe three years or every 15,000 miles. The modern...

My speedometer is going back and fourth and drops to zero while driving but, my rpm gauge is fine.
Hello. The crankshaft position sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/crankshaft-position-sensor-replacement) will not cause a fluctuation in the speedometer gauge. It can affect the rpm gauge, but not the speedometer. If the speedometer is acting like this then most of the time this is caused...
