Chevy Tahoe 2007. Shaking steering wheel at higher speeds and what feels like a passenger rear tire wobble Mechanic's Assistant: How often does the vibration occur, and when did you last have the tires balanced? It’s been a while on the balancing. First noticed after I had muffler replaced as the original was destroyed and dragging Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Tahoe yourself? What have you tried so far? It was in a bad accident years ago. Issues with suspension, I’m female don’t know much about cars. Boyfriend is mechanic he does most of work. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? My terminology is prob not correct, but I believe an “arm”? And stability bar were replaced as well as muffler. Driven couple of years with no muffler if that matters

Being that this is shaking the steering wheel it will be one of three things 1. wheel balance rebalance the wheels and check for warped rims. 2. belt seperation in the tire check the tires for a belt that is seperated. These will usually show themselves on the tread as abnormal flat spots that have tire wear in only one area or the tire tread or even bulges. both a tire balance and seperated belt can be found on a balance while watching it spin. You can also rotate the wheels front to rear to see if the shake goes away 3. seizing brake caliper or hose a seizing brake caliper can hold the wheel back causing a shake that will transfer into the steering wheel. this can also cause it to feel slugish get the brakes hot and raise the front wheels off the ground and feel for holding brakes. This will indicate a seizing cliper or a hose that is collapsed. your issue will be one of these. rotating the wheels front to rear can pinpoint if it is a tire and wheel problem or a holding brake problem. Always do a complete front end inspection when checking these to eliminate a loose front end component as a culprit let me know how you make out and if i can assist you further i would be happy to help! cam

Thank you cam!

As far as the car not always starting first time, is sea foam something I should try?It idles horribly when I'm stoppedMaybe I should have started with this, but I get P0016 and P0449 codes
Automotive Expert
sea foam will most likely not help with your running isse the 0449 is an emmisions code and will not cause a rough run. most likely the vent valve has failed the 0016 is a cam and crank signal issue you will need to scope your cam and crank sensors and look for a good solid 5 volt waveform if any of the sensors are producing a bad signal then it is one of those signals. if good signals then most likely a timing issue and will require a mechanical timing check you will need a scope to test these sensors unfortunately or you are just replacing sensorsors hopefully fixing your issue cam

that's what I've heard, just checking. Thank you!
