Only if you have a or of issues already like dirt in the pan from clutches or metalI pull the pan and clean it also and then replace the gasketYou should be fine and have new fluid

I want to change the transmission fluid, but the previous owner is unsure of when it was last changed. I check the fluid it has a brownish tinge color to it. Should I leave it alone or change it?
