Hi! Isaiah Hope I can help sorry to hear about your transmission, if you need to service the CVT you need to use a special tool and fill from the bottom . I use a scan tool and pump and adapter to fill the fluid .

A scan tool like a odb2?Is it safe to flush the transmission?
Automotive Expert
just to measure the fluid temperature when filling You can flush it if you fill it back correctly

Is a flush the best way to go, I haven't serviced the transmission in 30-40k miles
Automotive Expert
We just drain and refill How many miles on your car ?

Just right around a 100k miles
Automotive Expert
Okay I would just drain and fill if not too dirty

okay what tools will I need? Also do I have to have both wheels off the ground when I service the versa?

If you do not wish to use the Phone Service, we can continue chatting this way back and forth until you are satisfied with my help. Just keep in mind, it does take me time to respond. I am a Automotive Technician, I am not a fast typer. So lets get started.... Nice to meet you Isaiah, The CVT Transmission according to Nissan does not recommend service until the car has roughly 250k miles. If you would like to service the transmission sooner, you are welcome to do so. But you MUST!! use Nissan CVT fluid. If you use any other fluid in these transmissions, it can cause friction issues. When it comes to servicing these transmissions, it's not a simple procedure. There is special tools that need to be used as well as a scanner. So this would be something that if you wanted to have done, that I would strongly recommend you have the dealer do. Now if you are experiencing any type of transmission issue. I would strongly suggest you have this checked before servicing the transmission. As a service on a transmission with a problem could cause pre-mature failure. But if the transmission is in perfect operation issue, then you would be fine servicing it.
