Q: Can i use gaz 89 for my car

asked by on February 15, 2017

Using gaz with 89 octan will damage my car ?

My car has 8300 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello. Acura of course recommends 93 premium gasoline but you will be able to use 89 mid grade gasoline as well. You would be able to use 89 but it’s not the best thing for it. By using a lower grade gasoline you may experience pre ignition and a loss of performance. Pre ignition is when the gasoline ignites prematurely inside of the combustion chamber of your engine. A loss of performance could be slower acceleration. Also by using 89 gas you will likely have to fill up more because it does not burn as clean or efficient as a grade 93.
