Hello Damien. Nice to hear from you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. Have any warning lights come on with this issue or have you had the fault codes retrieved using a fully compatible scan tool plugged into your vehicle's data port to see what fault codes come up?
Automotive Expert
Without knowing all of the information like the vehicle history, the components that have been tested or replaced, and the results of any tests that need to be run, I can only give you a general answer to your question. The fault that you have described can be caused by an internal mechanical fault in the engine itself to where the engine is burning off engine oil to the point it may be flooding out the cylinders with oil causing the rough running as well as the stall out condition. This type of fault can be caused by worn piston rings, valve stem seals leaking, crankcase ventilation issues, or a leaking cylinder head gasket. The first thing that should be done is if any warning lights have come on with this issue the fault codes should be read out using a high-end fully compatible scan tool plugged into your vehicle's data port to see what fault codes come up with this issue. Once this is done, if any codes come up those codes will need to be diagnosed to help pinpoint and repair this issue. The engine will also need to be checked/tested to help pinpoint which component is allowing oil to enter the cylinders so it can be repaired properly. A shop will usually charge between $100 and $200 to perform the testing. The cost to repair the issue varies as it all depends on which component is at fault needing to be replaced.

Hello - low oil pressure (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/is-it-safe-to-drive-with-the-oil-light-on) at a hot idle is a normal indicator of worn engine bearings in a high-mileage engine. Since the oil light turns off when you accelerate indicates the oil pump is pumping more than 5...
