Good Morning! I recently hit a pothole going pretty fast, and it bent my front driver's side wheel inward at the top. The car doesn't wobble or vibrate when I drive it, but I do notice a grinding noise whenever I make right turns. Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on? From my driver's side wheel, like something is rubbing against where the tire sits (i dont know how to describe it) and this happened Christmas Eve but I haven't driven the car since then to prevent further damage. Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? 2011 BMW 328i xDrive Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 328i xDrive yourself? What have you tried so far? No I'm not Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No thank you

Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\*’ve been a technician on Just Answer since 2007 and I'll be helping you today. I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your vehicle. I know how inconvenient car trouble is, but together, we will get your vehicle back up and running quickly. May I ask whom I am chatting with today?
Automotive Expert
This would indicate you have a bent strut or lower control arm. The grinding when turning is likely the tire rubbing the fender. I would take it in for alignment to see what's bent and then repair it and align it to resolve the issue. Thank you for taking the time to contact Just Answer today. Have I answered your question? If any part of my response is unclear, please let me know. It’s my goal to deliver excellent service, so please let me know if there is anything more I can do. If you are satisfied with my help, please let me know with a short note here. Thank you.

Hi Kelcie, it's nice to meet you. I sent you a reply to look at, please review it and let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

How much do you think it would cost to repair?
Automotive Expert
It's difficult to say without knowing what is bent, I would expect a couple of hundred dollars at least, but you really shouldn't drive it with the wheel like that. It will cause more problems in the long run.

I haven't driven it since a day after it happened, it's just been sitting in my driveway to prevent more problems, and the little bit of driving I have done I haven't gone over 50 MPH
Automotive Expert
Ok, I think that's the best way to play it safe. You should have the front end inspected. Once it's been checked I will be happy to give you any more info I can on it.

Awesome! Thank you so much, you've really been helpful.
Automotive Expert
You're very welcome, have a great day!

I have another question. Is it possible for both of these parts to need replacing, or is it more than likely either the strut or the control arm?
Automotive Expert
It is possible they both would need replacing, but usually it's going to be one or the other.

Okay. Hopefully it's one or the other, hopefully just the control arm. Struts on a BMW are so expensive to fix!
Automotive Expert
I know it! I hope it works out well too.
