I don't think the cylinder is damaged. Typically is the cylinder head gasket follow by the cylinder head that gets damaged. You could do an engine compression test to prove it. Do you have experience with extensive engine repair? This is at least an 18 hours job that requires various tools and experience.

But you should use a block tester first to diagnose.

Basically, this tool is test if there is combustion gas in the coolant.

I forgot to mention that the Q7 is Diesel

This tool can be work both in diesel engines also.
