Answers to common Ford Tempo questions

Q: Pressure valve cover rings
Answered by David
The pressure you are observing is not a good thing. First off, check to see if the positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV valve) (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/positive-crankcase-ventilation-pcv-valve-replacement) is clogged up. If it is, then it should be replaced. Also check to see if...
Q: My car died while driving and now the car won't start. There is just a click when turning the key but lights turn on.
Answered by Kevin
The check engine light may hold important clues as to what is going on. During a check engine light diagnostic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection), a certified mechanic from YourMechanic (https://www.yourmechanic.com) would use a code scanner to retrieve the specific diagnostic trouble code(s) from...
Q: Heater blows cold air
Answered by David
Hello. The Heater/AC control panel utilizes vacuum (from the engine) to actuate the hot water control valve - regulating heat from the heater. A vacuum leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/is-it-safe-to-drive-with-a-vacuum-leak), bad hot water control valve, or the heater control panel itself may have...
Q: Fuel door release open
Answered by David
Hey there. This is an electrical release mechanism, consisting of the switch in the glove compartment, and a solenoid that is inside the fuel door itself. Starting with the fuse for this circuit, follow the "power trail" to see which...

Trusted by thousands of happy car owners

I have to be honest, this was the first time that, I have EVER felt 'at-ease' around an auto mechanic. Jonas was thorough and straight forward with me about the issues; gave me a quote directly after doing the diagnostics on the car and, as it turned out, it cost me less than the original estimate. When does that ever happen with auto repairs ?? He was friendly, informative and knowledgeable. You folks made the whole experience convenient and painless. I'm "sold" on the "Your Mechanic" concept. I'll probably never take my car again to a traditional mechanic !! Jonas was a pleasure to deal with !

Patrick was very professional and polite. He inspected my car and found that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. He is very friendly and I would DEFINATELY recommend Patrick to all my family, friends and co-workers.

Milton was great! Called to let me know when he'd be arriving. Very friendly & very thorough with his explanations. Took his time to make sure, double, triple check that everything was running properly. Very pleasant experience!
