Why does my starter just spin and doesn't engage

Hi Rodney. Thanks for contacting us today. Usually when a starter motor doesn’t engage with the flywheel, it’s due to a solenoid on the starter being damaged. When you turn the key, electricity engages the starter motor and activates a solenoid. The solenoid pushes a bar to engage the starter sprag to engage with the flywheel. If it just spins, the solenoid is typically at fault.
