Well I just bought a 2009 Escape and I'm having problems with the ignition the key gives me problems and it has stalled and today I went to park and lost power when I went to park at Walmart I need help Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate? I'm not sure I got it August 13th and noticed the check fuel fill inlet on dash and then my hinge broke so the place I bought it from was only able to fix one yesterday so I really haven't drove it maybe only like 30 miles at the most I seem to have problems on the left side I think it's my [power steering](/topics-power-steering/) but I'm no macanic Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Escape yourself? What have you tried so far? Nothing I stopped at a oil change place to see if they could check if my fluid was low and they said I need a dealership looking at it Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Just that I need to know if it's safe to drive or should I wait for someone to look at it

I need a macanic to text or call me in the morning ..thank u

Since you were not able to reply to the info request I sent. I cannot be as accurate and thorough as I would like. I hope what I can provide does help. If the key will not turn at times. That can be to blame on the steering wheel locked from entering and exiting the vehicle while turning the steering wheel or it can be to blame on damaged tumblers in the ignition cylinder. Thank you for visiting Just Answer, I hope I was able to answer your question. If you need to follow up on this concern please use the reply button. If you like my answer please reply so I can mark your question complete. Moose

The question I need the most is about the power steering when I turn to the left it stalls does that mean it's ready to go out

Can you duplicate the left turn stall in park? If not do the RPMs at least drop real low?

Part banging against wheel well
Although I haven't seen it very often, broken springs can happen. The springs are usually made of hardened steel. They help stabilize the strut and keep the car at the appropriate ride height. If the spring breaks, the rear of...
Car not starting after jumpstart
It sounds like your starter motor may have failed. I would recommend having your battery fully charged then load tested to ensure it functions properly. Once the battery is known to be good, have it reinstalled and try to start...
Sluggish start. Bad starter or bad battery? Female. Don't want to get taken by shop.
Hi! That "sluggish starting" (slow cranking speed) is the most common symptom when a battery (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-replacement) is at the end of its life. The age of your car is also just about in the normal range for how long batteries...
I have a pulley going bad and I need to know what is happening.
Hi, thanks for writing in. The pulley bearing may be binding the engine and causing the rough idle problem. I recommend replacing the pulley and bearing then recheck the idle to see if running better or needs additional diagnosis. If...
Car died while driving, won't start, but it turns over
Hello, thank you for writing in. Due to just having to jump the battery, this is the first component to check. Have it tested with a voltmeter, or at your local automotive parts store. If the battery was low but...
Car jerking
The hole drilled into your MAF sensor has altered the metered reading of air being injected into your car. The mass air flow sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement) monitors air intake as it is mixed with fuel prior to being injected into the...
Blown head? 1996 Toyota Camry
Hi there - you can certainly have a blown head gasket (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/im-not-getting-any-preasure-from-front-right-cylinder-could-this-be-a-blown-head-gasket-1994-gmc-jimmy-by-kage-m) without a lot of dramatics - at least initially. If the white smoke from the exhaust has a sweet smell to it, that's a good indication that the...
Tick in drivers side gets lower after warm up
In your initial question, I did not know that valve damage occurred as a consequence of a failed timing belt replacement. The 4 valves that the shop "claims" were damaged might merely represent what they "think" was the extent of...
One strut mount we up with a dust cap on, one without. How big of a deal is it?
Hi Dan. Thanks for the question today. In regards to geometry, handling and "whether it's fine", a dust cap should not have that great of an impact. I'm curious as to why the mechanic did this - as to me,...
