I didn't drive my car for 6 six months. Because it needed some work.(Pryor to that I had the oil changed) after the car was running it ran extremely smooth and quite for about 10 days then it started knocking. Was told to add oil but the knocking continues. And suddenly no oil pressure. Help!! Is this worth trying to fix? Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on? Sounds like the [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) to me. And it started after it was fixed and ran fine. For 10 days. As soon as it started I parked it the same day and have driven since Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? Toyota [Camry](/topics-camry/) 2003 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Camry yourself? What have you tried so far? 70000 miles Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? I am just looking for possible cause before I ask someone to look at it. And I will pay for it to be fixed.

Hello, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I'm sorry your having problems with this vehicle so I'll try to help you with this issue. The website may prompt if you want a call, but that would be up to you. So from you description it is hard to say exactly what it is other than it is losing oil pressure , so the oil pump should be checked first then if it is not doing it's job it would be worth doing the oil pump. it is not cheap but not so bad as to give the car away.

Is it possible because the car sat so long that maybe the filter is clogged?I just don't want to be taken advantage of and since I know very little about cars... well that could happen.
Automotive Expert
the [oil filter](/topics-oil-filter-toyota/) or the pick-up screen in the oil pan can be stopped up and should be checked as when they check the oil pump. All of these things can happen, and be the cause, so it will need to be checked at a shop.

I'm afraid to even drive it at all and unfortunately I am a single mom and can't just shell out money for a tow. Can I drive it 2 miles to the mechanic? Or best not too?
Automotive Expert
it would be best not to drive, and check to see if you insurance has tow service, most do.

Never thought about tow insurance ‍♀️ thank you!
