2000 4runner I was driving and the [headlights](/topics-headlight-toyota/) dimmed, the rpm meter went out, aftermarket radio cut out while driving. Then car would not restart, it makes a rapid clicking noise, will not turn over. Headlights still work, all lights still work while car is off. Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuses? Have you checked the bulbs? Yes on the fuses and bulbs Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model of your '00 car? 2000 4runner. Just bought it. Old owner had a stereo system and may have messed with battery /electronics. Also had a leak in [sunroof](/topics-sunroof-toyota/) so they disconnected all the power to everything on the roof, domelights, etc. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far? Nothing so far, just happened. I'm thinking [starter](/topics-starter-toyota/).

Hi! Hope I can help sorry to hear about your 4Runner stalling out and no electrical , form what you have told me it seems like you could have a charging system issue not keeping the battery charged while driving that would cause the [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) to cut out and electrical . just text me back Hi! Just text me back if you have questions I would have the [alternator](/topics-alternator-toyota/) inspected for correct charging voltage first .

Valve gaskets need replacing.

The shaking can be from a problem with the camshaft's tensioner and guides. If the oil leak...
My breaks sometimes stop car completely and sometimes it doesn't what would cause this?
Usually a person describes such an experience as more force than usual is needed to stop the car. I am not exactly sure what you are experiencing here, so I will address a few things. Speed and weight of your...
Brake light and battery light came on at the same time.
If your belt broke then you cannot drive it. This may cause overheating and engine stalling. Both lights can be due to low voltage conditions. Have a mobile mechanic like one from YourMechanic come to you to diagnose your electrical...
Electric problems
Hello - this sounds like a real mess! Check fuses first of course, to eliminate the simple problems. Then, it's time to break out the electrical diagnostic equipment and dive into the wiring. There are likely multiple wiring and/or connector...
Timing marks does not come back to TDC after I hand rotate it on a 5.4 2006 Triton.
When rotating the crankshaft and turning the engine over, the camshafts will realign after the crankshaft has turned twice. Now, the marks on the timing chains will take around 15 rotations to line up on the timing marks on the...
Check engine is on after new alternator
It sounds like you may have a failing voltage regulator. When the voltage regulator is not working properly, this may result in the alternator allowing too much power to be delivered to the battery resulting in damaging wires and prematurely...
Losing power
The exhaust leak should be repaired first. Leaking carbon monoxide is bad for your health and could be deadly. In addition, exhaust leaks can cause engine malfunctions, particularly if an O2 sensor is affected. So, you should first have the...
