Q: Shaking at high and low speeds.

asked by on February 03, 2018

My car at low and high speeds shakes and makes a weird noise but odly only when the wheel is turned slightly to the left. But not when turned to the right. Full left and right turns dont cause shaking and when breaking it doesnt either. One mechanic said nothing is wrong and most likely the alignment, then i went to get it done and i was told by the other mechanic that he doesnt think so but did it anyways and afterwards i started driving it and it still happens. What else can it be because im going broke trying to play guessing games as to what the issue is?

My car has 217000 miles.

Hi Javier. Thanks for contacting us tonight. What you’re describing seems to indicate an issue with your wheel bearings. Typically if you hear a grinding or high pitched squealing noise when you turn to one side and at high and lower speeds, it is coming from the center hub of the wheel - where the bearings are located. You should probably have an independent mechanic complete a test drive and on-site inspection so they can replicate the symptoms and determine what repairs are needed to resolve this issue.

The statements expressed above are only for informational purposes and should be independently verified. Please see our terms of service for more details
