Q: P1336 code keeps coming up on my code reader, I've replaced the crankshaft position sensor but the code keeps coming back, why?

asked by on March 16, 2018

P1336 keeps turning on the MAIL light, I've replaced the crankshaft position sensor but it keeps throwing the code. Also bluish-white smoke comes out of the exhaust after it's been running for a few minutes. I've been told it's the valve stem seals but I'm not so sure. What could it be and how much would it be to fix it??

My car has 255000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi Rick. Thanks for contacting us today. This Infiniti specific code can be related to other items besides the crankshaft position sensor itself. Some of the common sources include the Crankshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted, has a weak electrical connection, the signal plate may be damaged, the starter motor may be faulty, or the starting system circuit is dead, or a weak battery. You might want to check all of these components, replace anything damaged, clear the codes and see if this is resolved.
