Q: Check Engine Light is on

asked by on May 25, 2017

Three days ago on a hot afternoon i went to go pick up my spouse from work. I had the car in parked, the engine running and the ac running high for 30mins all of a sudden my car shook and the engine turn off when it did i saw a green key light on for a second before the car went dead. At that time i didn't know what it was so i just let it off and remove my key for a good 10mins then i turn it on and the car start but feel like it can't get full energy so i had to step on the gas pedal a few time. Drove around the parking lot for several minutes and went to go park again since the spouse haven't get off yet. Car parked for no more 10mins and it shut off again! This time my spouse is in the car and he try to turn in on at least 3 time with him stepping on the gas pedal. It would come on for a second then died and then smoke started coming from the hood so i got scared and called for a tow. After that car is fine but i see the immobilizer light on briefly everytime i turn on the car.

My car has 118000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
