Q: My car has three lights that came on.

asked by on December 19, 2016

My check engine light came on. two other messages showed up as well. one saying service elec throttle control & the second saying engine too hot. One light looks like a thermometer & the other light looks like a red lightning bolt in parentheses. I have no idea what's going on. I got my oil changed as I was supposed to. I only have maybe 53,000 miles on it. I need help I am paying on this car monthly & though I wasn't going to have issues because I purchased a newer vehicle. Help me please
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there. If the throttle body light is coming on, then the throttle position sensor is picking up the throttle plate sticking. Clean the throttle plate and open it manually with a large screwdriver to make it free up. Also, the thermostat light is coming on from the coolant temperature sensor saying that the coolant is not the right temperature when the thermostat should be open. I recommend replacing the thermostat and checking the strength of the coolant for its protection level. If the protection level is too low, I recommend changing all of the coolant in the engine. If you need further assistance with the warning lights on the dash, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Random and seemingly instantaneous coolant leak after attempting to bleed the cooling system.

It would seem that there may be excessive pressure in the system for some reason. Because you replaced the cap and now presumably this is keeping a better seal on the coolant from coming out of the cap, it may...

outside temperature thermometer way off, a/c not working, check engine light is on

Coolant leaking outside on front passenger side

It sounds like your coolant overflow tank may be leaking as this is where it is usually located underneath the hood of the vehicle. If the leaking only occurs after driving the vehicle, it is likely that the radiator is...

When I turn on my AC the radiator fans do not turn on. The fans do come on when the car warms up so I know they are working and the fuses are good. The AC compressor does come on and the air blows ice cold when the car is moving. Car is a 2006 Chrysler Sebring Sedan 2.7l v6.

The control circuit for the fans needs to be checked. For example, there is usually a condenser fan relay in the A/C electrical controls. There could be a fault with that relay and/or wiring problems, perhaps even just a loose...
