Unfortunately, there is no simple, 1-answer, "it's this..." type of answer to why your Traction Control warning is on. When the traction control warning is on, this turns this system off and makes it unavailable and inoperative. So, it is perfectly safe to drive the vehicle. Just use a bit more caution in inclement weather, as you will not have the added safety and control without the traction system. Unfortunately, there are dozens of parts and sensors in the Traction Control System. This can be; a faulty wheel speed sensor, a faulty yaw rate sensor, a problem with the control module, a faulty steering angle sensor and any of the parts and sensors in between. The only way to find out where the problem lies, is to have the Diagnostic Trouble Codes read from the on-board computer. These codes will serve as the starting point for the diagnosis, and will more accurately point to the faulty part/sensor. Once you have the codes you can make a more accurate and efficient repair. To scan these traction control codes will require the use of a scan-tool that can read the traction system. Those personal 'code readers' and the Free scans done at local parts stores only read engine/transmission/emissions codes, so make sure the correct scan-tool is used.
