I just recharged my ac on my 95 GMC Sierra and once I got to about 40 psi the clutch would rapidly turn on and off. Am I doing something wrong? The truck has a brand new compressor Mechanic's Assistant: Has the clutch been slipping? Are you having any trouble shifting? The clutch has not been slipping and no problems shifting Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your GMC? 1995 GMC Sierra 1500. And the clutch rapidly turns on and off Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sierra 1500 yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes I am. I bought a can of ac pro refrigerant and filled all the instructions in the can but as soon as I get it to 40 psi the clutch just turns on and off rapidly. No cold air blowing either. Did I maybe do something wrong? Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Thats it

Hello and welcome to just answer. My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will assist you today. I am sorry you are having this problem but hopefully I can help. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. You just need to continue adding some more refrigerant through the low side port. As more refrigerant is added, the clutch should stay engaged longer. Keep adding until the low side line (big one) is nice an cold where it goes into the compressor.

I hope this helps and thank you again for using just answer! Chris

Well I bought a 20 ounce can of a Cipro and when I plug it up to the low pressure port it reads way over 40 so I don't want to add much more and messed something up, but it almost filled up 250 in about 15 seconds which doesn't seem rightCan of A/c Pro50 psi\*\* sorryShould I add the whole can of 20 oz refrigerant?
Automotive Expert
Yes I think you should try that next. Chris

But the gauge keeps reading in the red portion of the gauge. The gauge is brand new so I don't think it would be reading wrong. I just don't want to mess anything up if I add to much refrigerant
Automotive Expert
You are connected to the low side service port correct? Chris

I am
Automotive Expert
Hmmmm, what is the static pressure (AC turned off) ?

Ac is on high, and recirculation is onIt's working now I guess my gauge just wasn't reading accurately
Automotive Expert
Okay good! Must have been a gauge malfunction. Chris

That's what I'm thinking. Thanks for the help
