Q: Q: Gas gauge not working

asked by on

The gas gauge does not work.

Hi. The problem is with the sending unit, gauge or wiring. The sending unit is a variable resistor mounted in your fuel tank. It uses a float mounted to an arm. As the float goes up and down with the fuel level, the sending unit internal resistance goes up and down. Input from the sending unit is then displayed on your gauge. A trained professional, such as one from YourMechanic, will be to diagnose and repair your fuel gauge.
